New users of Adobe's Creative Suite 2, which includes the latest versions of popular graphics and design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and In Design, may find themselves overwhelmed by the significant number of features (many of them new to these latest versions) in these programs. With such a daunting set of tools and accompanying complexity, it may seem an insurmountable task to jump into these programs and start working. Never fear, though, as a helping hand from Adobe's own book series (Classroom in a Book) is here to help. Below, we review the title "Adobe Creative Suite 2 Classroom in a Book."

Reviews: Book Review: Take Control of Tiger

As with every major release of Mac OS X, OS 10.4 Tiger has been escorted into the Mac user ranks by a plethora of educational books on how to use the newest version of Apple's operating system. One such book is "Take Control of Tiger," which is a print offering from the popular "Take Control" eBook series published by Adam and Tonya Engst of "TidBits" fame (TidBits is a longstanding Mac e-mail newsletter). In fact, Take Control of Tiger is actually an enhanced compendium of several of the Take Control eBook titles. In this review, we'll take a look between the covers and see who this book is right for.

Reviews: Lexmark P4350 Review for Mac Users

Lexmark, like several other printer manufacturers, makes a few "all-in-one" machine that handle printing, scanning, and faxing duties. The Lexmark p4350 is an all-in-one machine at the low end of the price scale, weighing in at a mere $129.99 suggested retail, and likely to be found for less if you shop around.
With machines like this, a big question is how good the Mac user's experience will be, and what the Mac drivers are like. Luckily, in this case, AppleLinks has done a nice review of this machine with an eye toward Mac User's specific needs. Check out the AppleLinks review here.

Reviews: Apple Soundtrack Pro Reviewed

MacWorld Magazine has a nice review of the recently released Soundtrack Pro, successor to the original Soundtrack audio application that was originally the audio component of Final Cut Pro (Apple's pro-level video editing software). Since the original Soundtrack program was released, a number of key things have happened in the Apple audio software space. Namely, two GarageBand 2 has been released with a plethora of great new features, and Apple has released Logic Express, a feature-reduced version of it's $1,000 pro audio application, Logic Pro.

Now that Apple has three, count 'em, three, sub-pro level audio applications, you may be scratching your head a bit. Thus, the MacWorld review is helpful to determine why Soundtrack Pro might be attractive to you, and why the others might not be. The bottom line is that if you're composing music primarily for synchronizing with video, Soundtrack is likely to be of interest to you. If you are composing music for other uses, you should consider the other programs, but not overlook Soundtrack Pro entirely.

Reviews: Big Box of Art for OS X (Hemera Tech.)

The Big Box of Art is the first large-scale clipart collection that is made to work natively with OS X. This makes the product an attractive choice for Web designers and other creative-types who wish to work efficiently in OS X without using Classic to retrieve their images from a clipart collection. The Big Box features over 215,000 images, which include classic vector clip art that has a "cartoony" look to it, high-resolution images of all sorts, and, perhaps best of all, 10,000 Hemera Photo Objects.
